Wireless Communication Working
I have written a tutorial for this now available at Wiring.
It has been about 4 weeks since I started working with processing and wiring. Since that time I have learnt (with the help of many) how to make and LED blink, to reading a photoresistor values, to controlling LED’s using a processing user interface, to controlling a processing user interface using a photoresistor.
Last week I ordered the Bluetooth Modem & Module from Sparkfun, as well as an arduino board, which arrived also last week, and I have been able to test wireless serial communication. I firstly tested this with Wiring board and processing, and after some configuration of the Bluetooth devices, I was in business. Wireless communication was successful and this was tested up to a range of over 8 meters and with 3 walls in between. I have also been asked by the creator of Wiring, Hernando Barragán to write a tutorial for wireless communication with Wiring board using bluetooth. This should be finished in the next week and I will post up a link.
Second I decided to learn arduino. I purchased the arduino board because they are cheaper and smaller than the wiring, and bulk manufactured. Arduino programming code is slightly different to Wiring, so after changing the code to be compatible with arduino - which took some trial and error - it was up and running. I have attached some photos below of this progress.
We will most definatley now use this equipment to communicate between a computer and the wearable displays, and will be purchasing more of these Bluetooth modems and modules in the near future.
